Introduction

A 50-year perspective for TAOG (Taiwan Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology), the year 2011 will mark unique opportunity to hold the XXII Asian and Oceanic Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AOCOG 2011) in Taiwan. AOFOG was established in April 1957. Four years later, Taiwan followed in its footsteps and established the Taiwan Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology (TAOG) on 26 February 1961. Owing to the contributions extended through participation, there were three Best Presidents of TAOG namely Chien-Tien Hsu (1983), Ping-Yen Wei (1989) and Tigris Tzu-Yao Lee (2000) who have been elected as fellows of the AOFOG. In the past half century, AOFOG has contributed substantially in advancing the standard of obstetrics and gynecology in the Asian and Oceanic areas and the result has been significant. In the 21st century, in the era of globalization, we can foresee the unification of medical standards in the Asian and Oceanic region.

The Centennial

The island of Taiwan will mark its 100th year anniversary of the government that has allowed Taiwan to become such a booming economic power in the region before any other country was achieving such reforms. The democratic system on the island and AOFOG will be celebrating their 50th milestone at the same time. The island will be a flourish with activity to celebrate its birthday. There will have more activities for foreign guests and dignitaries when visiting in 2011. This is the perfect opportunity to get the most value of entertainment, fun, and productivity by using the combination of forces celebrating both events of AOFOG and Taiwan’s democracy on the island of Taiwan in 2011.

Social Programs & Special Events

A whirlwind tour of Taiwanese culture. The Congress will offer a full range of social events; different cultural shows and excursions will be available for you to choose from. See the old mining town of JiuFen or visit Ying ge for the ceramic bowls and urns. Wonderful live performances are shown every night in the cosmopolitan cities of this island. See unique aboriginal musical performances right before your very eyes.
